Introduction to Flyfishing

There are few activities more “Colorado” than fly fishing for trout.  So you’ve always wanted to try it, but don’t know where to begin?  Our new “Introduction to Fly Fishing” class is a great way to get started.  The purpose of this class is to give you an understanding of how it’s done, and an overview of the essential equipment and basic skills, including a “taste” of knot tying and flycasting.

First, you will learn the basics of the gear, including the fly rod and reel, floating flyline, leaders, flies, and other desirable tools and materials.    Then you will get some hands on practice at a two essential knots.  After this overview, the class will move to the water where you will learn the fundamentals of flycasting.  By the end of this three-hour session you’ll understand why flyfishing is so popular, and realize that “you can do it!”.

All students 16 years or younger must be accompanied by an adult. Also you will need a valid Colorado Fishing License to attend the class.

All equipment is provided, but if you own some gear, bring it!  We can help assess what you have, and you can get some practice with it!

You must have a valid Colorado Fishing License to attend the class.
